Worried that You Have a Severe Case of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome?

Prevent Permanent Injury by Having Your Hand Checked by Our Specialists Today

Do you have these symptoms?

  • Uncomfortable numbness and tingling in your hand and fingers that often wakes you up in the middle of the night
  • You experience clumsiness and a weaker grip that makes it difficult to handle small objects like buttons, chopsticks or your phone
  • You have difficulty carrying out activities that require you to bend your wrist
  • You often shake out your hands in attempts to relieve these symptoms

If you exhibit one or more of these symptoms for more than a week, you’re likely to have Carpal Tunnel Syndrome.

Why you shouldn’t ignore it

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome happens when our median nerve is squeezed or compressed as it travels through the wrist.

It’s a severe condition, and most patients’ symptoms will only worsen over time.

Early diagnosis and treatment will help relieve your Carpal Tunnel Syndrome without the need for surgery.

If left untreated, it can result in permanent nerve damage, severe loss of hand function and weakness and lack of coordination in fingers and thumb.

We are Hand Specialists with Over 38 Years of Combined Experience in Treating Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Even many GPs are not aware, but in Singapore, hand surgery is a niche field of specialisation in medicine.

Unlike orthopaedic surgeons who spend just three months of their six-year medical degree studying the hand and wrist, hand surgeons do so for four and a half years.

At Ortho Hand Partners, our two senior consultants, Dr. Sandeep and Dr. David are one of the 17 full-fledged hand surgeons in private clinics that have devoted their entire medical careers to treating only hand, wrist and elbow conditions.

As a patient, you can expect sound advice and the most optimal treatment recommendations.

Your journey with us

1. Diagnosis

Based on your symptoms, we will conduct the necessary examinations.

2. Recommendations

If you are found to have Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, we will then begin with conservative treatments like using a splint, activity modification, nerve and tendon gliding exercises, and anti-inflammatory medication to decrease the swelling around the nerve.

3. Assess if surgery is required

If your condition deteriorates, we will then assess your profile, from your lifestyle to medical history to determine the most suitable treatment options that will help meet your recovery goals.

4. Physiotherapy & rehabilitation

A crucial part of the recovery process, we will refer you to physiotherapists who will assist you in stretches and strengthening exercises to regain your strength and range of motion.

5. Follow-up

Our journey ends only when you recover. We will continue to closely monitor your progress, taking the necessary steps along the way to restore your hand’s health.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will I be able to claim under Medisave for these treatments?

We are accredited by the Singapore Ministry of Health to submit Medisave claims for hand surgeries.

If you are a Singaporean or a Permanent Resident, you may be able to claim part of your medical expenses from your Medisave Account.

You can also use Medisave for your immediate family members i.e. spouses, parents, grandparents, children and grandchildren.

Feel free to call us for more details on the procedures that are Medisave claimable.

What about health insurance? Will the diagnostics and procedures be covered?

Similar to Medisave, many of our procedures are covered under health insurance plans. To know precisely if your treatment will be claimable, call us for more information.

Do I need to visit a specialist? How do I know if my hand pain is serious?

If your symptoms have persisted for more than two weeks, it is highly encouraged to come for a consultation session. This way, we can assess your condition and treat it right away to prevent further complications.

If I require surgery, will I be left with a noticeable scar?

If you’re like the seven out of the ten patients we see, this concern might be on your mind.

Experienced hand surgeons who have conducted thousands of hand surgeries, Dr. Sandeep and Dr. David can minimise scarring by carrying out the surgery with smaller incisions at less obvious areas – without compromising your wellbeing.
